Why 'SOCCER' Federation?

The word "soccer" is an abbreviation of "association" and was first used in English public schools and universities. It was popular to add "-er" endings to words at the time, such as "foot-er". "Assoccer" was used for association football, and was eventually shortened to "soccer".
